Lake Bluff Bike Race is Seeking a New Volunteer Coordinator for Event on Saturday, July 30, 2022

Background: After many years of wonderful service, George Russell is unable to continue as
Volunteer Coordinator for the 2022 Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium bike race. We
are seeking a new Volunteer Coordinator for this important function – which is critical to the
success of the event.

The Volunteer Coordinator will obtain around 45 volunteers to act as “course
marshals” (similar to crossing guards) at the bike race on July 30th. The course marshals
perform a very important safety function in the safety of both spectators and cyclists.

  • The course marshals will work shifts of approx. two to 2-1/2 hours during the event
  • An online volunteer signup service is available to manage volunteers who sign up – like SignUp Genius
  • Volunteers can be found through social media, notices in the Village Newsletter, and through personal friends and other connections
  • The coordinator will be present on the day of the event (stationed in the Lake Bluff Fire Dept. building) to manage the volunteers and give instructions
  • The coordinator will arrange for water and snacks to be made available to the course marshals during their shift
  • George Russell will assist the new Volunteer Coordinator in learning about the position

If you are interested in acting as the new Volunteer Coordinator, please contact the event race
director, Marc Colbert, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 847-644-0277. Thank you!
