Village and Community Updates



YOUR SUMMER FUN DESTINATIONS coming up include:
  • SUNRISE ROCKS! Join a fundraiser block party for the Friends of Lake Bluff Parks at Sunrise Park tomorrow, Saturday June 11, from 5 to 10 p.m.
  • RUN FOR FUN! The Park District's GO Color Run returns next Saturday, June 18 and registrations are open. Run, jog, walk, or do all three while being doused with color from shoulder to toe.
  • The Artists on the Bluff Art Festival returns next weekend, June 18-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Village Green.
  • The Lake Bluff History Museum Auto Show motors into town on Saturday, June 25.
THAT'S THE SPIRIT. The new Elmet Vliet Community Service Award honors those who exemplify the spirit of ?community above self.? Make a nomination by August 1, 2022.

STREET RESURFACING UNDERWAY. 
The Village's road resurfacing program continues. Click for details and a list of scheduled streets.

CUT-RATE COMMUTE. Metra announced last week that it will sell a $100 monthly pass for the months of July, August, and September. The pass is a flat rate valid for all destinations.

BIRD LOVERS can resume the use of backyard feeders and baths, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. IDNR previously asked for their use to pause in May in order not to spread bird disease from migrating birds.

Board and Committee Actions

Recent Architectural Board of Review Meeting (June 7, 7 p.m.). The ABR:
  • Recommended approval of a site plan for The Farm System (921 Sherwood Drive)
  • Discussed the implementation of the Downtown Streetscape Plan including amenities and furniture.
Recent Historic Preservation Commission Meeting (June 8, 7 p.m.). The HPC:
  • Recommended approval of landmark application at 500 E. North Ave.
  • Opened and concluded an advisory review at 500 E. North Ave.
  • Opened and continued a demolition review for a proposed renovation at 358 Foss Court.
  • Adopted a revised questionnaire for demolition review applicants.
  • Discussed implementation of an interactive map of Village historic resources.
Upcoming Finance Committee Meeting (Monday, June 13, 6 p.m.). The Finance Committee will discuss alternative revenue sources to fund stormwater infrastructure.

Upcoming Village Board Meeting (Monday, June 13, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider:
  • Modifications to the special use permit for Lake Bluff Brewing Company (16 E. Scranton Ave.), including a revised floor plan and expanded hours of operation.
  • A fence height variation at 600 E. Prospect Ave.
  • Temporarily allowing the hire of one additional maintenance worker due to an upcoming retirement.
Upcoming Village Board & Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals Special Meeting (Wednesday, June 15, 6 p.m.). The Village Board and PCZBA will conduct a joint workshop concerning the Village's planned residential development regulations and zoning districts. These are the regulations that would govern future developments such as Stonebridge.

Upcoming Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting (Wednesday, June 15, 6 p.m.). The PCZBA will hold public hearings to consider:
  • Residential variations for a pergola at 305 E. Scranton Ave.
  • Possible uniform hours of operation for food and beverage service (e.g. restaurants) in the Village.
