WATCH YOUR MAILBOX next week for a refrigerator-ready list of Lake Bluff's summer special events.

STREET RESURFACING UNDERWAY. The Village's road resurfacing program continues and milling starts soon. Click for details and a list of scheduled streets.

CROSSING GUARDS WANTED. The Police Department is hiring summer crossing guards, $15 per hour. Learn more and apply in person at the Lake Bluff Police Department, 45 E. Center Ave. 

THE 2022 LAKE BLUFF FARMERS MARKET, sponsored by @properties, kicked off on the Village Green today. Musicians and balloon entertainment start next Friday.

RUN FOR FUN! The Park District's GO Color Run returns in Saturday, June 18 and registrations are open. Run, jog, walk, or do all three while being doused with color from shoulder to toe.

CROYA'S BATTLE OF THE BANDS is next Friday, June 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Lake Forest High School Auditorium. High school bands will battle it out for top honors and prizes. Tickets are $5 - click for more information.

CUT-RATE COMMUTE. Metra announced this week that it will sell a $100 monthly pass for the months of July, August, and September. The pass is a flat rate valid for all destinations.

THE GORTON COMMUNITY CENTER is asking for your input to help it plan for the future. An anonymous survey is open until next Friday, June 10.

BIRD LOVERS can resume the use of backyard feeders and baths, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. IDNR previously asked for their use to pause in May in order not to spread bird disease from migrating birds.

Board and Committee Actions

The Business Advisory Ad Hoc Committee meeting scheduled for May 25 was cancelled.

There are no public meetings the week of May 30.

 
Upcoming Architectural Board of Review Meeting (Tuesday, June 7, 7 p.m.). The ABR will:
  • Consider a site plan for The Farm System (921 Sherwood Drive)
  • Discuss the implementation of the Downtown Streetscape Plan including amenities and furniture.
Upcoming Historic Preservation Commission Meeting (Wednesday, June 8, 7 p.m.). The HPC will:
  • Consider a landmark application and open an advisory review for proposed alterations to the residence at 500 E. North Ave.
  • Open a demolition review for a proposed renovation of 358 Foss Court.
  • Consider revising its questionnaire for demolition review applicants.
  • Discuss implementation of an interactive map of Village historic resources.
