Village and Community Updates

DEERPATH CLOSURE. Deerpath Road in Lake Forest will reopen to through traffic the evening of Sunday, March 27. Click here for more information.

NO FOOLING. The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a pop-up comedy club at Gorton Community Center on April 1.

LIGHTS OUT. Birds are migrating through our area the next two weeks. Artificial lighting at night can disrupt how birds navigate safely. Try to minimize home, patio, and landscape lighting until the first of April. 

ROOTING FOR YOU. You can receive two free saplings from ComEd and the Arbor Day Foundation. Reservations are first come, first served.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS. North Chicago Community Partners is seeking volunteers for their after school enrichment program serving K-5 students. Click here to learn more and sign up.
SEED BETWEEN THE LINES. The Library's seed library offers free native and pollinator species for your spring planting.

Board and Committee Actions

Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. As of March 1, Village meetings are in person. Members of the public can still participate via Zoom or by calling in.
There were no public meetings the week of March 21.

Upcoming Committee of the Whole Meeting (March 28, 6 p.m.). The COW will discuss the continued use of the roadway for outdoor dining in Block One of the Central Business District.

Upcoming Village Board Meeting (March 28, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider:
  • A public hearing and adoption of¬†the Village's next biennial budget (May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2024).
  • Comprehensively amending the Village's historic preservation regulations.
  • Terminating the development agreement for the Stonebridge development, consistent with the settlement agreement approved in November.
  • A special use permit for a membership indoor sports facility at 921 Sherwood Drive.
  • Bulk variations for the remodel of the single-family residence at 562 Sunrise Avenue.?
  • Approving a contract with AT&T for internet service.
  • Authorizing the disposal of desk phones as surplus property.
The Business Advisory Ad Hoc Committee Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 30 is cancelled.
