Village and Community Updates

DEERPATH CLOSURE. Deerpath Road will close at Route 41 starting today at 6 p.m. The closure will last until Monday, March 28. Click here for more information.

NO FOOLING. The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a pop-up comedy club at Gorton Community Center on April 1.

LIGHTS OUT. Birds are migrating through our area the next two weeks. Artificial lighting at night can disrupt how birds navigate safely. Try to minimize home, patio, and landscape lighting until the first of April. 

MONEY MATTERS. The Village's draft budget for May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2024 is now available.

SEED BETWEEN THE LINES. The Library's seed library offers free native and pollinator species for your spring planting.

Board and Committee Actions

Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. As of March 1, Village meetings are in person. Members of the public can still participate via Zoom or by calling in.
Recent Committee of the Whole Meeting (March 14, 6:15 p.m.). The COW discussed the Village's policy on extending utilities to unincorporated areas.

Recent Village Board Meeting (March 14, 7 p.m.). The Village Board:
  • Appointed directors to the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency board.
  • Agreed to accept funds from the dissolution of the Lake Bluff Mosquito Abatement District.
  • Approved:
    • Zoning relief for "Half and Half Pizza," a new carry-out pizza establishment, sharing space with BONK and Lake Bluff Hub and Cycle at 77 E. Scranton Ave.
    • Amendments to the Village's liquor licenses concerning Inovasi (the previously approved¬†basement bar will not be constructed) and Donati's Pizza (only beer and wine service).
    • A sign exemption for the Ferrari dealership at 990 North Shore Drive.
    • ?Engineering and construction contracts for the Village's annual street improvement program.
  • Gave first reading approval to:
    • The Village's next biennial budget (May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2024).
    • Comprehensively amending the Village's historic preservation regulations.
    • A special use permit for a membership indoor sports facility at 921 Sherwood Drive.
  • Deferred acting on:
    • Bulk variations for the remodel of the single-family residence at 562 Sunrise Avenue.?
    • Approving a contract with Comcast Business for internet service.
The Sustainability and Community Enhancement Ad Hoc Committee Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 15 was cancelled.

The Business Advisory Ad Hoc Committee Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. has been rescheduled one week later on Wednesday, March 30 at 7 p.m.

There are no public meetings the week of March 21.
