‍‍It's a Wonderful Life

Kick off the holidays in Downtown Lake Bluff on December 2! This year's festivites include a horse-drawn carraige ride, Santa's reindeer on the Village Green, and the annual lighting ceremony of Lake Bluff's homegrown green and blue light orbs. Click here to learn more.

‍Holiday Home Tour

Join the Lake Bluff History Museum for their Holiday Home Tour. Visit local homes decked out in holiday finery from 11am-4:30pm on December 3! To buy your ticekts and for more information, click here. 

‍Village Community Updates

Pump Your Brakes. This Thanksgiving, the Lake Bluff Police Department is joining the Illinois State Police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure holiday travelers are buckled up and driving sober; the “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaigns will run November 17-27. LFHS Holiday Concerts & Applause Spaghetti Dinner. This signature music program will take place on December 10 from 3 to 7 pm (Spaghetti Dinner from 4:45 to 6:45 pm). Proceeds fund scholarships, student treats, visiting teaching musicians, and much more! Tickets are on sale here.

Reading Through a Winter Wonderland. Looking for a COOL adventure this winter? Slide into the Lake Bluff Library's Winter Reading Club. Starting December 2, dive into a flurry of Library programs to earn prizes. Click here for more information. The Library will also be hosting a festive Winter Open House on December 2 at 2 pm with the Winter Reading Club and It’s a Wonderful Life festivities.


Winter Parking Regulations Now in Effect. A vehicle cannot be parked on any street in the Village between 1 and 7 am between November 15 and April 1 of each year or after a 2 inch or greater snowfall (until snow is removed). If you have special parking needs, please call the Police Department at 847-234-2151 to request permission (not guaranteed).

Subscribe to the plan website to stay posted on all project news and events as they are announced. While you’re there, make sure to share your ideas to the comment map  (and come back whenever inspiration strikes) and, if you haven’t yet, take the five-minute survey to let us know your priorities for Lake Bluff’s future.

Recent Sustainability and Community Enhancement Ad Hoc Committee (SEC)  Meeting (November 21). The SEC:

  • Approved:
    • Backyard Animal Licence application for chickens at 216 E. Scranton Avenue.
    • Draft Bird City Illinois application.
    • 2024 SEC proposed meeting dates. 
  • Discussed:
    • Updates to Village tree regulations. 
    • Potential light pollution regulations. 


Upcoming Village Board Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting (COW) (Monday, November 27, 2023 at 6:30 pm). The COW will:

  • Discuss the Lake Bluff Yacht Club License Agreement request.


Upcoming Village Board Meeting (VB) (Monday, November 27, 2023 at 7 pm). The Village Board will:

  • Hear an informational update from Contractor Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management regarding the Village's Mosquito Control Program.
  • Review 2023 Property Tax Levy.
  • Consider abating the 2023 Property Taxes levied for General Obligation Debt Series 2019 and 2019A bonds.
  • Review collective bargaining agreements with the Fraternal Order of Police (Police Officers and Sergeants).


As a reminder, all non-emergency Village offices are closed this Thursday and Friday. The Public Works Recycling Facility will be open during regular hours this Saturday and Sunday. Have a safe and joyful Thanksgiving holiday!
