Roadway Maintenance Next Week

 Weather permitting, Village Contractor Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC will be performing preventative maintenance next week on the following streets: 

Between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, on-street parking will not be permitted so that the contractor can sweep the roads prior to their pavement rejuvenation emulsion application. More details can be found here.

Veteran's Day Observance

Please join the Lake Bluff community in honoring those who have served on Friday, November 10 from 9-10 am on the Village Green. In the case of bad weather, the ceremony will be moved across the street, inside the Lake Bluff Fire Station. For more information, click here.

Comprehensive Plan Open House November 15

Please join the PCZBA and Teska Associates on November 15 from 6-8 pm at Village Hall (40 E Center Avenue) for an Open House. Stop by and share your thoughts on housing, land use, and more to help inform the goals and priorities of the Plan.

 

The best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe to the plan website; this will keep you posted on all project news and events as they are announced. While you’re there, make sure to share your ideas to the comment map (and come back whenever inspiration strikes) and, if you haven’t yet, take the five-minute survey to let us know your priorities for Lake Bluff’s future.

‚ÄćVillage Community Updates

Green Bay Road Open House. On November 2 the Village hosted an Open House regarding the Green Bay Road and Bridge reloctaion project, which will happen early spring of 2026. For those of you that could not attend, details can be found on the Village website here. Comments can be submitted using this form by November 16, 2023. 

 

Don't Go Smashing Pumpkins. Compost them instead! Pumpkins can be placed in containers as part of the weekly curbside composting program or brought to the Village of Lake Bluff Recycling Center to be composted. 

 

Tree Inventory. Beginning next week, Davey Resource Group will be in town tagging public trees to assist with the Village's tree inventory update.

 

Ooh La La. The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Artisan Guild is hosting a French Market and Holiday Boutique on November 4 & 5 at the Lake Forest Recreation Center from 10 am to 4 pm. French baker Claude Bouteille will be onsite serving sweet treats and lunch from his Taste of Paris Café. Proceeds benefit Mothers Trust and CROYA. Click here for more information.


How Have You Bean? On November 6, Lake Forest School Board Members are hosting a community coffee event at the Gorton Center from 6:30-7:30 pm to foster a more informed, stronger community. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, click here.

 

Your Virtual Bread and Butter. Lake Bluff Library has joined Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries, to bring you premier virtual events. On November 8 at 7 pm, join Maya Camille Broussard, star of Netflix’s Bake Squad and owner of Chicago-based Justice of the Pies, for a virtual demo from her kitchen just in time for Thanksgiving. Coat and Boot Drive. Now through November 10, clean, new, and gently used winter coats, scarves, hats, mittens, snow pants, boots, and blankets are being collected by  Mothers Trust Foundation Teens 2023. For more information click here.

 

For the Birds. Consider reducing light at night to enjoy the night sky and keep nocturnal populations and migrating birds safe by using: 1) the lowest level of lighting needed, 2) soft (2500K) and/or fully shielded bulbs, and 3) timed or motion-sensing lights. Let the Holiday Festivities Begin. On November 11, the Lake Bluff Garden Club will be decking the Village planters with festive greens for the coming holidays. Please stop by, say hello, and learn more about the Lake Bluff Garden Club. 

 

Lake Bluff Women's Club. The Lake Bluff Women's Club is hosting a Luncheon Program on November 14 featuring 'The Nettes' musical entertainment and a catered lunch. Deck the Halls. Join the Lake Bluff History Museum for their Holiday Home Tour. Visit local homes decked out in holiday finery from 11am-4:30pm on December 3! To buy your ticekts now and for more information, click here. 

 

CROYA News. CROYA’s Annual Poinsettia Sale has begun (forms due November 15). Funds raised help pay for Senior Awards, Youth Scholarships, and CROYA programs. CROYA’s 25th Annual High School Donut Bowl flag football game with the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Police is on November 8 at the LFHS West Campus starting at 5:30 pm. Upcoming Architectural Board of Review (ABR) (Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 7 p.m.). The ABR will:

  • Review lighting changes at Blair Park at 355 W. Washington Avenue and¬†Artesian Park at 10 E. Sheridan Place.

 

Upcoming Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) (Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 7 p.m.). The HPC will:

  • Initiate a Demolition Review for 673 Lincoln Avenue.¬† ¬†
  • Discuss 2024 proposed HPC meeting dates.
