Comprehensive Plan Missing Middle Housing Presentation

On Wednesday, October 18 at 7 pm, please join the Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) in person at Village Hall or via Zoom to hear an overview of Missing Middle Housing presented by Opticos. The presentation will run about 1 hour followed by a Q&A session.

Village Community Updates

Interested in Landmarking Your Historic Property? Join Lake Bluff's Historic Preservation Committee on Wednesday, October 11 at 7 pm at Village Hall for an informational seminar to discuss the local landmarking process along with available Village and state incentives. Please RSVP to Clara Gable, Assistant to the Village Administrator, at or (847) 283-6889.


Semi-Annual Waste Collection Program. Twice a year, the Village provides residents an opportunity to dispose of large items not picked up as part of the normal refuse collection service on a semi-annual basis. Items that may be disposed of during the program include: mattresses, furniture, barbecue grills (without propane tank), among others. The next collection date is Wednesday, October 11 for properties east of Sheridan Road. For more information click here

Lettuce Hear from You. Did you visit the Lake Bluff Farmers Market during the 2023 season? The Farmers Market Committee would love your feedback on the Market this year to make next year's even better. Please take 2 minutes to fill out a survey here.

Safety First! The Village’s Public Safety Day Open House is on October 14, 2023 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Public Safety Building (45 E. Center Avenue). Come out and see a showcase of vehicles from the Fire, Police, and Public Works Departments as well as various emergency demonstrations.

Is it a Bird, a Plane... or Drone? On October 15 at 3 pm, join the Lake Bluff History Musuem's drone photography program to learn how drones work and fly; see several photos by presenter Chistopher Haydon. Email to register for the event.


The Moona Lisa. The solar eclipse is coming up and the Lake Bluff Library will provide a limited amount of eclipse glasses to the public to celebrate the annular eclipse on October 14! Registration is still available through Monday, October 9.  For more information on how to register for this event and pick up your eclipse glasses, click here.

CROYA News. Here is the link to CROYA’s October 2023 Newsletter. CROYA’s Middle School Six Flags Fright Fest trip is October 9 (click here for the permission slip). CROYA’s High School Pink Party/Service Project to support Breast Cancer Awareness month is October 11 and CROYA’s Middle School Fall Dance is October 13. Board and Committee Actions

Recent Architectural Board of Review (ABR) Meeting (October 3). The ABR approved  building alterations for: 

  • Proposed English Pub at 101-113 E. Scranton Avenue.
  • Knauz Motors at 409 N Skokie Highway.


Upcoming Village Board (VB) Meeting (Monday, October 9, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider: 

  • Approving a text amendment, RIO development plan, and Special Use Permit to allow child daycare services and a school (music) at Grace United Methodist Church (244 East Center Avenue).
  • Terminating and releasing a conservation easement and area at 201 Moffett Road.
  • Amending the proposed Lawrence Pub's special use permit to decrease the proposed floor area of the building, increase the outdoor seating area, and remove a condition requiring three additional parking spaces (101-113 East Scranton Avenue). 
  • Amending the Lake Bluff Municipal Code regarding the Food and Beverage Tax. 


Upcoming Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) Meeting (Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 7 p.m.). The HPC will: 

  • Host an informational seminar to discuss the local landmarking process along with available Village and state incentives.
