Birthday Bash This Saturday

Comprehensive Plan Update Underway

The Lake Bluff Comprehensive Plan update has started and there are plenty of opportunities to make your voice heard regarding the Village’s future! The best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe to the plan website; this will keep you posted on all project news and events as they are announced. While you’re there, make sure to share your ideas to the comment map (and come back whenever inspiration strikes) and, if you haven’t yet, take the five-minute survey to let us know your priorities for Lake Bluff’s future.

Village Community Updates

LFHS Homecoming Game Tonight! Come watch the Lake Forest High School Boys' Varsity Football team take on Zion-Benton tonight at 7:30 pm! Join alumni, families, and LFHS students at Varsity Field, located at the LFHS West Campus. Go Scouts! Click here for more information.


Buckle Up! Come to the Public Safety Building (45 E. Center) this Saturday, September 23, from 10 am - 2 pm to have your child's safety seat checked or installed.    


Waste No Time. SWALCO is holding a one day mobile household chemical waste collection event this Saturday, September 23, 8 am- 2:30 pm in Lake Forest. This FREE event will take place at the City of Lake Forest's Municipal Services Building (800 N. Field Drive). Appointments are required. Click here for more information.


Get the Show on the Road. On October 1 from 11 am to 3 pm, join the LFLB Chamber of Commerce for the 4th annual "Then & Now" Auto Show which showcases 120 years of vehicle excellence. This popular family-friendly event not ony includes the auto showcase but also entertainment by the Flat Cats band, terrific onsite raffles, and an expanded "Food Station." Admission is free. Eclipse Glasses. Did you know there is an annular eclipse coming in a couple of weeks? The Lake Bluff Library will provide a limited amount of eclipse glasses to the public to celebrate the event on Saturday, October 14. Registration will open on October 2 for the initial release (limit 2 per household). Click here to Register.


Electric Scooters. A few reminders for parents to share with their children... To avoid collisions with pedestrians, please walk scooters and bikes while downtown. Do not use electronic devices, including ear buds, headphones, or phones, while operating your scooter. Watch out for hazards at intersections and crosswalks, including vehicles and wet or uneven terrain.


CROYA News. CROYA’s youth meetings and programs for the 2023-2024 school year have begun! Youth meetings are: Middle School on Tuesdays at 4 pm, High School on Wednesdays at 7 pm, and Middle School Cooking Club on Thursdays at 4 pm. The CROYA Van picks up students after school at both Lake Bluff Middle School and Lake Forest High School. There is also still time to join Croya's Peer Training at LFHS! Click here for the driving waiver form and click here for more CROYA information.

Recent Sustainability and Community Enhancement Ad Hoc Commitee (SEC) Meeting (September 19). The SEC: 

  • Heard a presentation by Dave Kraft of Hey and Associates regarding ravines.
  • Discussed, updating the Lake Bluff Tree Regulations (Tree Species Rating Guide).


Recent Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) Special Meeting (September 20). The PCZBA: 


Recent Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) Regular Meetin(September 20). The PCZBA:

  • Approved minor residential variations for floor area ratio and impervious surface coverage (610 Sunrise Avenue).
  • Recommended a RIO development plan review, a text amendment, and special use permit to allow a daycare and music lessons at Grace United Methodist Church (244 East Center Avenue).
  • Recommended amendments to the special use permit for the proposed Lawrence Pub special use permit (101-113 East Scranton Avenue).


Upcoming Village Board Commitee (VB) Meeting (Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider: 

  • License agreement for landscaping improvements on Village owned property adjacent to 665 Moffett Road.
  • Financial commitment and application to the Safe Routes to Schools grant program. 
  • License agreement for the Lake Bluff Yacht Club at Sunrise Beach. 
  • Construction contract for the Village of Lake Bluff's FY2024 Pavement Maintence Program.
  • Ordninace amending Section 10-13-3 of the Lake Bluff zoning regulations (RIO District Uses, Child Daycare Services).
  • Ordninace granting RIO devlopment plan approval and a speical use permit for child daycare services at Lake Bluff Grace United Methodist Church (244 East Center Avenue).


The Upcoming Business Advisory Ad Hoc Commitee (BAC) Meeting orginally scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 has been cancelled.
