‚ÄćComprehensive Plan Update Underway

The Lake Bluff Comprehensive Plan update has started, which means there are plenty of opportunities to make your voice heard in the Village‚Äôs future! The best way to stay in the loop is to¬†subscribe to the plan website¬†to be notified of all project news and events as they are announced. While you‚Äôre there, make sure to¬†share your ideas to the comment map¬†(and come back whenever inspiration strikes) and if you haven‚Äôt yet,¬†take the five-minute survey¬†to let us know your priorities for Lake Bluff‚Äôs future. Join us at Village Hall (or virtuallyÔĽŅ) on Wednesday, September 20 at 6 pm to hear the Existing Conditions Report.

‚ÄćVillage Community Updates

Sprucing up the Sidewalk. The Garden Club will liven up Lake Bluff sidewalk planters with fall flowers on Saturday morning September 16. Stop to say hello and learn more about the Garden Club.  

 

Car Puns are Exhausting. On September 20, Senator Julie Morrison is hosting a Mobile DMV event to allow convenient access to some Secretary of State services including driver's license renewal, vehicle registration stickers, real ID and more. For more information click here.

Let Freedom Ring. Volunteer to help with the Lake Bluff 4th of July Parade in 2024!  Each year, dozens of Lake Bluffers join forces to create one of the best, over-the-top parades on the North Shore. If you are interested in participating, join the next 4th of July Committee gathering on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 pm at the Community Room of the Public Safety Building (45 E. Walk Don’t Run. Take a walk with a child and help the Village gauge walkability and bikeability in Lake Bluff! Click here for a walkability survey and here for a bikeability survey. Please send completed surveys to lchermak@lakebluff.org.

 

The Lake Bluff Library. The Lake Bluff audio collection has expanded to include Playaways fro adults! Playaways are pre-loaded portable audiobooks that are easy to use and give you the freedom to take your audiobook anywhere (no internet needed). Visit the Library's audio collection for adults to see available titles. On September 19 at 2:30 pm, enthusiastic readers will be discussing: An American Summer by Alex Kotlowitz at the Library. Stop by to pick up your copy today and join us next month for the program!

 

Electric Scooters. A few reminders for parents to share with their children... To avoid collisions with pedestrians, please walk scooters and bikes while downtown. Do not use electronic devices, including ear buds, headphones, or phones, while operating your scooter. Watch out for hazards at intersections and crosswalks, including vehicles and wet or uneven terrain.

 

CROYA News. CROYA’s next High School Meeting on Wednesday, September 20 from 7-8 pm is a carnival theme in honor of LFHS Homecoming week! Click here for more CROYA information and for the parent waiver form.

  • Hear a Ravine Presentation by Dave Kraft of Hey and Associates.
  • Discuss Lake Bluff Tree Regulations Update (Tree Species Rating Guide).

 

Upcoming Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) Special Meeting (Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 6 p.m.). The PCZBA will hear an: 

  • Existing Conditions Report presentation by Teska and Associates (part of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan update process).

 

Upcoming Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) Regular Meeting  (Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 7 p.m.). The PCZBA will consider:

  • Minor residential variations for floor area ratio and impervious surface coverage (610 Sunrise Avenue).
  • RIO development plan review, a text amendment, and special use permit to allow a daycare and music lessons at Grace United Methodist Church (244 East Center Avenue).
  • An amendment to the planned Lawrence Pub special use permit (101-113 East Scranton Avenue).
