Comprehensive Plan Update Underway

The Lake Bluff Comprehensive Plan update is just getting started, which means there are plenty of opportunities to make your voice heard in the Village’s future! The best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe to the plan website to be notified of all project news and events as they are announced. While you’re there, make sure to share your ideas to the comment map (and come back whenever inspiration strikes) and if you haven’t yet, take the five-minute survey to let us know your priorities for Lake Bluff’s future.

‚ÄćVillage Community Updates

Labor Day. Village Hall and the Public Works Recycling Center will be closed on Labor Day.  

 

O Brave New World. This weekend and next (both Saturday and Sunday) Centerstage presents Shakespeare's The Tempest on the Village Green at 4 pm. For more information, click here.

Happy Birthday Lake Bluff. Lake Bluff is turning 128! Enjoy fireworks, music, food & drinks at Blair Park on September 23 at 4 pm. For more information click here. 


A Wheely Great Event. Senator Julie Morrison is hosting a Mobile DMV event to allow convenient access to some Secretary of State services including driver's license renewal, vehicle registration stickers, real ID and more. For more information click here. 

 

Village Sidewalk Replacement. The Village’s contractor continues pouring concrete for sidewalk replacements. Removal of the frames, clean up, and restoration will follow. Questions can be directed to Village Engineer Jeff Hansen at jhansen@lakebluff.org or (847) 283-6884. If you think the sidewalk in front of your home is a good candidate for replacement as part of next year's program, please reach out to Jeff. Thanks to all for your patience during construction.


Bye Bye Birdy. September is bird migration time! Check out Cornell Lab's BirdCast today here. Enter "Lake County, Illinois" and see how many birds migrate through our area every night. Keep your hummingbird feathers, bird feeders and bird baths full. Turn all your lights out. You never know who may stop by for sustenance and rest. The birds are counting on us.

 

Lake Bluff Library Updates. With the school year underway, the Lake Bluff Library has everything from reference and research help on Explora Primary Schools and Explora Secondary Schools, LinkedIn Learning, to Mango Languages. Click here to learn more. The Library will also be hosting a Back to School Bash on Thursday, September 7 at 4 pm with a fun scavenger hunt, carnival games, crafts, and light refreshments

 

Lake Forest High School Foundation. The LFHS Foundation is proud to partner with District 115 to enhance all aspects of the educational experience. Consider getting involved as a volunteer or as a sponsor for the Spring Luncheon or Pitch Night prize fund. For more information, click here.

Recent Village Board Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting (August 28, 2023, 6:15 p.m.). The COW discussed:

  • A proposed parking pad on Village property (665 Moffet Rd).¬†
  • Live-amplified music events in Scranton Alley and related special event plan.

 

Recent Village Board Meeting¬†(ÔĽŅAugust 28, 2023, 7 p.m.).¬†The Village Board:

  • Approved the July 2023 Financial Report.
  • Appointed Village Trustees Susan Rider (Chair), Steve Rappin, and Taryn Fisher to the Finance Committee.
  • Approved requests from the Lake Bluff Park District and Grace United Methodist Church to waive fees.
  • Approved disposal of certain Village records.
  • Amended a professional services agreement with Lauterbach and Amen, LLP (ongoing accounting support).
  • Adopted updates to the Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance.
