The Risk of West Nile Virus is Increasing in the Region. The Lake County Health Department recommends that residents take personal protection measures to minimize mosquito bites including: using an EPA registered mosquito repellent, wearing loose fitting clothing, avoiding peak mosquito feeding times such as dawn & dusk, and eliminating standing water (if it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes). For more information on how to take protective measures click here. Residents can report potential mosquito breeding areas (water standing for 3+ days) in their neighborhoods on the Residential Portal here.
