Bike Race and Family Fun Ride This Saturday. The Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium Bike Race is here again! Lake Forest Bank & Trust is sponsoring this year's Family Fun Ride on July 29 starting at 6 pm on Oak Ave. Click here for more information.

 

Bluffinia. The Park District's Bluffinia concert featuring Mr. Meyers (Caribbean music) starts at 6 pm on the Village Green this Sunday, July 30. 

 

An Evening of Poetry and Wine.¬†Lake Bluff History Museum invites you to "Plunge into the Lake: An Evening of Poetry and Wine‚ÄĚ on August 1 from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Museum. Lake Bluff author Kathryn Haydon will engage your imagination with a talk interspersed with readings from her newly published book,¬†Unsalted Blue Sunrise.¬†The evening will connect back to the Museum‚Äôs new exhibit on Lake Michigan to ignite your own memories and impressions of our ever-changing lake.¬†Click¬†here¬†to register.

CROYA News. CROYA’s annual Lake Forest Day Band Jam is at 6 pm on August 1 at the West Park tennis courts (Coach House is headlining). 7th through 12th graders can march in the Lake Forest Day Parade with CROYA on August 2 (meet at 9 am on Western Ave).

7th Annual Ruck March is Coming. In September (National Suicide Prevention Month), the Lake County Veterans and Family Services Foundation (LCVFS) will host "RuckUp23" to raise public awareness and help reduce the number of Veterans taking their own lives. For more information click here.


‚ÄćEnviroFlash Air Quality Alerts.¬†Due to recent air quality concerns,¬†Lake County suggests that residents sign up for¬†EnviroFlash¬†air quality alerts. Click¬†here¬†to sign up.

 

Metra's Regional Connect Pass. Metra has teamed up with CTA and Pace to offer a new Regional Connect Pass. Metra Monthly Pass holders can pay an additional $30 for unlimited transportation on all Metra, CTA, and Pace systems.  For more information click here.

 

Be Aware of Bats. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reminding the public to be aware of the potential for exposure to rabies from infected animals. Bats are the most common source of potential infection in Illinois, and exposures from bats tend to be more frequent during the summer months, especially July and August. The disease can also be found in other wild animals, including raccoons, skunks, foxes, and coyotes. For tips to prevent the spread of rabies, click here.

Recent Village Board meeting (July 24, 7 p.m.). The Village Board:

  • Approved daylight plane and side setback variances needed to construct a second floor addition at 500 East North Avenue, a Lake Bluff landmarked property.
  • Authorized SWALCO grant funding for the Village‚Äôs Food Waste Diversion Pilot Project.
  • Issued a Fireworks Permit for the Lake Bluff Birthday Bash.

 

The Architectural Board of Review meeting scheduled for August 1 is cancelled.
