Village and Community Updates

Brewery Block Party. The Brewery Block Party originally scheduled for July 1 will now take place downtown this Saturday, July 8 starting at 5 pm.


Bluffinia. The Park District's first Bluffinia concert of the summer starts at 6 pm on the Village Green this Sunday, July 9 with the cover band Voyage. 


Fireworks. Reminder that fireworks are illegal in Lake Bluff and may result in a fine. Call the Police Department when you hear or see fireworks nearby.


Slow it Down. This summer, the Lake Bluff Police Department is joining with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police to remind motorists to stop speeding and help everyone reach their destinations safely. Drivers can expect a ticket if they are spotted speeding. Stepped-up patrols will be seen July 6-31.


CROYA News. CROYA is open each day for youth to drop-in from 1-3 pm. Click here for the printable Summer Calendar of Events. CROYA’s Tie-Dye Summer Youth Meeting for 7th through 12th graders is Wednesday, July 12 from 3-4 pm.


Criterium Bike Race Volunteers Needed. A Volunteer Coordinator is needed for the bike race- more information can be found here. Also needed is Host Housing- more information can be found here.


Library News. There is still time to sign up for Summer Reading Club and to get seeds from the Library's Seed Library. While you're at it, check out the Library's Learning Garden and download ebooks to your device for your summer travels.

Upcoming Village Board Committee-of-the-Whole (COW) meeting (Monday, July 10, 2023, 6 p.m.). The COW will:

  • Continue discussing an LGBTQ+ Pride Flag request and draft flag policy.


Upcoming Village Board meeting (Monday, July 10, 2023, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider:

  • Approving variances for height, floor area, and setbacks related to the addition of a second story on an existing detached garage (618 Maple Avenue, a locally landmarked home).
  • Authorizing a professional services agreement with Davey Resource Group, Inc. for tree inventory and urban forest management plan services.
  • Approving an update to the 2005 Affordable Housing Plan.

Upcoming Plan Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) special meeting (Thursday, July 13, 2023, 7 p.m.). The PCZBA will:

  • Hear a Comprehensive Land Use Plan kick-off presentation from the Village's consultants.


The Architectural Board of Review (ABR) meeting scheduled for July 11 and the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) meeting scheduled for July 12 are cancelled.
