Independence Day Reminders. The Public Works Facility and Recycling Center will remain open this weekend from 10 am - 3 pm.  Village offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.  There will be no refuse, recycling, or yard waste collection on Tuesday. The following schedule will be in effect for this holiday week: 

  • Monday collection will remain the same
  • Tuesday collection on Wednesday

 

Slow it Down. This summer, the Lake Bluff Police Department is joining with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police to remind motorists to stop speeding and help everyone reach their destinations safely. Drivers can expect a ticket if they are spotted speeding. Stepped-up patrols will be seen July 6-31.

 

Criterium Bike Race Volunteers Needed. A Volunteer Coordinator is needed for the bike race- more information can be found here. Also needed is Host Housing- more information can be found here.

 

CROYA Updates. Click here for a printable Summer Calendar of Events. CROYA is open each day for youth to drop-in from 1 to 3 pm, including float building for the Lake Bluff Fourth of July Parade.

 

Library News. There is still time to sign up for Summer Reading Club and to get seeds from the Library's Seed Library. While you're at it, check out the Library's Learning Garden and download ebooks to your device for your summer travels.

Board and Committee Actions

Recent Village Board meeting (June 26, 7 p.m.). The Village Board:

  • Did not approve a request for a 2-year exemption to the Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ban for properties 20 acres and over.
  • Appointed Susan Wicks to the Architectural Board of Review, and Paul Lemieux and Mark Dewart as Co-Chairpersons of the Business Advisory Ad Hoc Committee.
  • Appointed and swore in Raffi Elchemmas as Village Clerk.
  • Approved variances for floor area and impervious surface related to a proposed shed (525 E. Center Avenue, a locally landmarked home).
  • Approved first reading of an ordinance to authorize variances for height, floor area, and setbacks related to the addition of a second story on an existing detached garage (618 Maple Avenue, a locally landmarked home).
  • Approved a BYOB liquor license for Half and Half Pizza (77 E. Scraton Avenue).
  • Appointed Assistant to the Village Administrator Clara Gable as the Village’s Alternate Delegate to the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency.
  • Authorized the dissolution of the Government Information Technology Consortium.

 

There will be a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meeting on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 6 pm.
