Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Seasonal Ban

The Village Board has now approved a May 15 - September 30 seasonal ban on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. If you don't perform your own lawn maintenance, talk to your contractor about this new regulation.

Stormwater Utility Fee Approved

Following more than 2 years of study and public engagement, the Village Board of Trustees has created a Stormwater Utility (effective July 1, 2023) to provide an equitable, efficient, certain and neutral revenue stream for the construction, maintenance, operation and improvement of the Village's stormwater system. More information about the Stormwater Utility fee can be found on the Village's website.

Village and Community Updates

NSWRD Construction Now Underway. The Northshore Water Reclamation District (NSWRD) began construction of an underground sewage storage basin at Lake Bluff Sunrise Beach and will continue through May 2024. Over the next year there will be times of intense construction activity beginning with the delivery of materials and large equipment. Parking will not be permitted during the hours of 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Monday to Friday) along eastbound East Center Avenue from Evanston Avenue to Sunrise Avenue from now until Friday, May 26, 2023. More information about the project can be found at nswrd.org. Email notifications@northshorewrd.org to sign up for project notifications.

Street Resurfacing Starting Soon. The Village's 2023 road resurfacing program will start soon. Click here for a list of streets to be resurfaced.

Crossing Guards Wanted. The Police Department will soon be accepting applications for summer crossing guards ($15 per hour). To learn more, contact the Lake Bluff Police Department (non-emergency) at (847) 234-8760.

No Mow May. Mowing less in the month of May can help create habitats that support early season pollinators. As long as you control weeds, lawn grass can lawfully grow up to eight inches in height within the Village limits. Join the Lake Bluff Public Library and others participating in No Mow May!

Mosquito Abatement. The Village has retained Clarke to continue to provide mosquito control services in our area. Residents can report standing water and nuisances and request spraying notifications by using clarkeportal.com/hotline (if you previously registered to receive notifications, you should continue to receive them).

Lights Out for Migratory Birds. Migrating birds travelling at night can become disoriented by artificial lighting. Now through June 15th, consider turning off your outdoor lights from dusk to dawn.

Semi-Annual Waste Collection Program. Twice a year, the Village provides residents an opportunity to dispose of large items not picked up as part of the normal refuse collection service on a semi-annual basis. The next collection date for properties east of Sheridan Road is Wednesday, May 10th.
