Village and Community Updates

LFHS GOT TALENT. The Association of Parents and Teachers (APT) will be sponsoring the Lake Forest High School Talent Show from February 23-25. Performances will take place each night at 7 p.m. All proceeds go to the APT and will directly benefit students and teachers. Click here for more information and tickets.

 

LOCK YOUR CAR. When cars have been stolen in Lake Bluff, the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys stored inside. Always keep your valuables out of sight or in the trunk. Never leave valuables in unattended vehicles. Always lock your vehicle and take your keys with you.

 

SEASONAL TREE TRIMMING IS UNDERWAY by the Village and ComEd. Tree trimming occurs between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and signs will be posted on affected streets before work begins. Click here for more information.

 

WINTER PARKING REMINDER. Please move your vehicles off the street to help clear snow and ice from Lake Bluff roads. As a reminder, parking is currently prohibited on Village streets between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. every night (November 15th-April 1th) or after a two-inch snowfall until snow removal is complete.

 

100 YEARS YOUNG. ‍In collarboration with the Lake Bluff History Museum, Lake Bluff School District 65 is planning a centennial celebration of the community's 1st elected school board in 1923. To honor this occasion and to help celebrate the history of public schools in Lake Bluff, the district is asking former teachers, students, administrators, board members, and community members to email stories (written, photo, audio) about District 65 to 65stories@lb65.org.

 

GREEN THUMB GATHERING. The Lake Bluff Garden Club will host their 2nd annual virtual community education event on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. Acclaimed author and naturalist, Doug Tallamy, will present A Guide to the Little Things That Run the World-Gardening for Wildlife using Earth Friendly Practices. There are plenty of spaces for this free Zoom program. Please email lakebluffgardenclubcontact@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

Recent Village Board Committee-of-the-Whole (COW) meeting (February 13, 6 p.m.). The COW:

  • Discussed Flock License Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera purchase and use policy.

Recent Village Board meeting (February 13, 7 p.m.). The Village Board:

  • Reallocated the 2023 Village of Lake Bluff volume cap to the Village of Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
  • Awarded the Elmer Vliet Community Service Award to Christian Erzinger, Deb Fischer, and Josh Fox.
  • Authorized the purchase of a replacement aerial forestry truck and related equipment and declaring one 1999 Terex aerial forestry truck and related equipment as surplus.
  • Amended Title 3 of the Village of Lake Bluff Municipal Code concerning delivery of liquor and awarded a Class T liquor license to Heinen's.
  • Granted RIO development plan and site plan approval for a sport court at Lake Bluff Middle School.

Recent Joint Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) meeting (February 15, 7 p.m.). The PCZBA:

  • Discussed historic preservation zoning incentives.

Upcoming Sustainability and Community Advancement Ad Hoc Committee (SEC) meeting (Tuesday, February 21, 7 p.m.). The SEC will:

  • Discuss a draft ordinance regarding gas-powered leaf blowers.
