The Lake Bluff Letter Special Edition: Lock Your Car

The Lake Bluff Letter Special Edition: Lock Your Car

Lock Your Cars!

In the last week, three cars have been stolen in Lake Bluff.

In every instance, the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys stored inside.

"We will continue to actively patrol and work with other agencies to curb this crime, but we need your help," said Police Chief Matt Smizinski. "Residents should secure their vehicles and property to reduce their chance of being a victim."

The members of the Lake Bluff Police Department encourage these steps to avoid being a victim:

  • Lock all of your vehicle’s doors, close every window, and take your keys inside your house. Every night.
  • Do not leave valuables in your car.
  • If you must leave valuable items in your car, place items out of sight.
  • Call the Police Department at (847) 234-2153 to immediately report any suspicious activities, persons, or vehicles. Waiting a few minutes is often too late.

Do your part by taking preventive action and spreading the word.

You can make a difference.
