Lake Bluff Alert - Severe Storms, Road Closures

Lake Bluff Alert

A significant storm affected Lake Bluff overnight, and flooding is present throughout the Village. Village staff estimate that over six inches of rain fell early this morning.

FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, DIAL 911.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED STREETS.

Numerous roads throughout Lake Bluff and Lake Forest are impassible in low lying areas and are closed to traffic, including:

  • West Scranton / Sheridan Road viaduct.
  • U.S. 41 (Skokie Highway) between Route 176 and Buckley Road (North Chicago).
    • U.S. 41 is currently closed at Townline Road (Lake Forest) but may drain and reopen today. Floodwaters north of Route 176 are expected to take extended time to clear.

It is likely these two major routes will be impassable for at least the next 24 hours. Allow extra time for travel due to detours and congestion. Sheridan Road and Green Bay Road are available alternative routes.
