Village of Lake Bluff Recycling Center Rules & Regulations: 

  • A current Village of Lake Bluff vehicle sticker is required to use the Recycling Center
  • One cubic yard per week is permitted
  • All materials must be deposited in the appropriate designated areas and as instructed by the attendant (see below)

Vehicles Not Allowed to Enter the Recycling Center:

  • Commercial vehicles and contractors
  • Dump trucks, rental trucks, or box trucks
  • Vehicles with permanent commercial markings or business logos
  • Vehicles larger than a standard pickup truck
  • Vehicles with a capacity of more than 2 cubic yards

Items Not Permitted at the Recycling Center:

  • Refrigerators/freezers
  • Dehumidifiers and any other item containing CFCs
  • Tires
  • Propane tanks
  • Paint and chemicals
  • Car batteries
  • Medical waste
  • Chemicals/Hazardous waste
  • Oil

Items Permitted in Designated Areas:

  • Construction/Bulk Item Container: Typical waste from small construction projects such as lumber, bricks, tile, chairs, couches, etc.
  • Paper Container: All paper products such as cardboard, newspaper and magazines, books, etc.
  • Comingle Container: Glass bottles, aluminum cans, plastic containers, etc.
  • Yard Waste Container: Grass clippings, leaves and small quantities of brush. Larger quantities of brush can be disposed of on the hill on the east side of the Recycling Center (Signs are posted to direct you).
  • Household Containers: Typical refuse from a household kitchen garbage.
  • Metal Pipe: Metallic items such as grills, wagons, metal shelving, etc.

Recycling Center Holidays

The Recycling Center will be closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day (first Monday in September)
  • Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday of November)
  • Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
