Police Department

The mission of the Lake Bluff Police Department is to consistently seek and find ways to affirmatively promote, preserve and deliver a feeling of security, safety and quality services to all members of the Lake Bluff community. The Police Department accomplishes this mission by providing for the maintenance of law and order in the Village and to provide an efficient and effective means of reducing crime through education, patrol duties, investigation, apprehension of suspects, and recovery of evidence and property. The Department is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in all areas of patrol, investigation, communications, and administration.

The Department strives to maintain a high level of proficiency with an initial 12-week basic recruitment training reinforced with a formal on-the-job field training program for new police officers.

The Police Department is a part of the Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Lab that provides many important forensic services related to scientific examination and analysis of physical evidence extracted from crime scenes. Further, the Department is an active member of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) and the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) to provide emergency manpower assistance and special weapons and tactics operations throughout Illinois. Additionally, as a member of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, the Police Department provides investigative assistance in homicides, non-parental kidnapping and other major investigations.
