Plumbing cross connections are defined as actual or potential connections between a potable and a non-potable water supply systems, which may result in the contamination of drinking water. To address this concern, the Illinois Plumbing Code (77 Illinois Administrative Code 680), adopted by the Village, requires approved backflow prevention devices on all connections to the public water supply. Additionally, the Illinois Pollution Control Board-IEPA (35 Illinois Administrative Code 607.104, et seq.) requires municipalities to have an adopted active cross connection control program.
