The Village has been planning this project for several years and now anticipates receiving $5,700,000 in grant funding (approximately 75% of the total project cost) to complete the project. Noteworthy project goals include:

  1. Reconstruction of Green Bay Road and utility repairs from IL Route 176 south to the Village’s southern limit (click here for the project map);
  2. Maintaining the same footprint, alignment, as many trees as possible and the current speed limits for Green Bay Road;
  3. Adding NEW crosswalks at West Witchwood Lane and West Sheridan Place to enhance pedestrian safety;
  4. Installing NEW storm water improvements to reduce local flooding and meet Village design goals; and
  5. Replacing the superstructure of the bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad just north of Bath & Tennis Club Road (includes everything except the piers that support the bridge from the bottom).

It is estimated that construction will begin in the spring of 2026 and conclude in the fall of 2027 with a break in the winter. Given the scale and scope of this project, detours and bridge closures are expected for extended periods of time.
