Village and Community Updates
ELECTION DAY is this Tuesday, April 6. Click here for voting information.
EXPANDING VACCINE ELIGIBILITY. Click here for local vaccination resources. Eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine continues to expand:
-
Today: Heathcare workers, long-term care facilities, frontline essential workers, residents age 65 and older, residents with high risk conditions or disabilities, higher education staff, government workers, media, restaurant staff, construction trade workers, and religious leaders.
- Starting Monday, April 12: Any resident aged 16 and older.
SENIOR WEEK. Lake County estimates that there are potentially 30,000 seniors who have not yet received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The County has designated next week as "Seniors Week" and is providing additional call center volunteers to help seniors register and find an appointment. Lake Forest / Lake Bluff "Vaccine Buddies" continue to help seniors make appointments also. Please, contact the elders in your life and make sure they've had the chance to be vaccinated before eligibility expands on April 12.
NOT NORMAL YET. Our region remains in Phase 4 of the revised Restore Illinois plan. COVID-19 cases are rising again throughout the state and in our local area, which will prevent further progress towards reopening. The Lake County Health Department continues to recommend a 10-day self-quarantine if you recently travelled, were not vaccinated, and did not consistently wear a mask, wash your hands, and maintain social distance throughout your trip.
VEHICLE STICKER renewals are due May 1. You should have received a renewal notice with the PIN necessary to renew online. Renewals are also accepted via mail or in person at Village Hall (but walk-in capacity is limited).
MONEY MATTERS. The Village's draft budget and capital improvement plan for May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022 are now available.
BUILDING ON LAST YEAR... Fire hydrant repainting will continue throughout the Village.
THE LAKE BLUFF LIBRARY will return to regular operating hours starting April 5.
GROWING SEASON. The University of Illinois Extension will host a virtual workshop to share tips on growing vegetables. The workshop is Wednesday, April 14 starting at 6 p.m. The workshop is offered through a collaboration with SWALCO funded by the USDA to promote local composting and food waste diversion.
PROJECT F_LL. Any Lake County resident in need is invited to pick up a free bag of shelf stable food tomorrow (Saturday, April 3) between 9 and 11 a.m. at Lake Forest High School, 1285 N. McKinley Road. Project F_LL is a community partnership of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood schools.
