Stay Safe This Independence Day
Lake Bluff's annual Fourth of July parade is cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Parade Committee will run two pop-up parades that will travel throughout Lake Bluff neighborhoods starting at 10 a.m. Saturday and running for two to three hours. Click for details.
Enjoy the parade, but please, don't gather in groups to watch. COVID-19 is still being actively transmitted in our community. Be safe this holiday:
- Continue to stay six feet from others and wear a face covering as much as possible while in public or in the company of others.
-
Stick to small gatherings. Have a barbecue with the people you live with or a few other friends. Make sure your guests don't share food and have a convenient way to clean their hands frequently.
-
Fireworks are illegal in Lake Bluff. Thousands of people are injured each year in fireworks accidents. If you travel elsewhere to use fireworks, remember these safety tips.
COVID-19 Updates
PHASE FOUR. Our region remains in Phase 4 of Restore Illinois, the statewide five-phase public health plan to reopen. Many facets of regular life have resumed subject to the continued use of face coverings and social distance. This is the most advanced phase until there is a vaccine or effective treatment for COVID-19.
FREE TESTS. You can get COVID-19 testing without symptoms, insurance, a prior appointment, or a doctor's referral at any IDPH community-based testing site. The closest site is at 102 W. Water St. in Waukegan and is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or while daily supplies last.
Village and Community Updates
FARMERS MARKET. The Farmers Market will operate tomorrow morning on the Village Green from 7 a.m. to noon.
CLOSED. Village non-emergency offices will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 3.
LAKE COUNTY FORWARD. Lake County has announced a grant program for small businesses that can provide up to $30,000 in assistance with occupancy and COVID-19 related expenses.
VEHICLE STICKER renewals are due by July 31. You can renew your sticker online, by U.S. mail, or postage-free using the white dropbox across from Village Hall.
WATER METER REPLACEMENT. The Village's water meter replacement program will resume next week. Affected households will receive a scheduling invitation by mail.
Board and Committee Actions
For more information, visit the Village's meeting packets and videos page. Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. Not all meetings are recorded on video.
Due to the COVID-19 emergency, no physical meetings will occur. Village business will be conducted virtually. Click here for details on the format and how to participate.
There were no public meetings scheduled the week of June 29.
Upcoming Architectural Board of Review Meeting (July 7, 7 p.m.). The ABR will consider:
- A new fence at Lake Bluff Elementary School, 31 E. Sheridan Pl.
- A change to cell tower equipment at 45 E. Center Ave.
- A window replacement, air conditioner, and fence installation modifying a single-family home at 105 E. North Ave.
- A new sign facing automobiles mounted to the Robert McClory Trail bridge over Route 176.
Upcoming Historic Preservation Commission Meeting (July 8, 7 p.m.). The HPC will review and discuss proposed revisions to the Village's historic preservation regulations. |
