It has been brought to the attention of the Village that residents receiving calls from electricity suppliers that are allegedly falsely representing the Village's Electricity Aggregation Program. As a result, some individuals feel they have been wrongly switched from MC2, the Village's contracted electricity supplier, based on misleading information.
It is important to know that, generally, MC2 will not contact individual residents unless the resident initiates the contact. The Village and MC2 recommend residents not give their ComEd account number to an inbound call claiming to represent the Village's Electricity Aggregation Program. However, it is recommended residents get as much information as possible (supplier name, phone number and agents name) to file an informal complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission.
If a resident believes they have received false or misleading information from any electric service provider, an informal complaint can be filed by contacting the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 800-524-0795, or by using the ICC's on-line complaint process at: http://www.icc.illinois.gov/consumer/complaint/. Residents can also file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office at 800-243-0618 or by visiting: http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/filecomplaint.html.
If a resident unintentionally switched to another supplier, but wishes to stay with MC2 on the Village Electricity Aggregation Program, the resident is encouraged to contact ComEd at 1-800-Edison-1 immediately and request the account be "reinstated" back to MC2. If too much time elapses between the switch date and this type of request, ComEd may not be able to reinstate the customer and they will be required to "Opt-in" to the Village's Electricity Aggregation Program.
