In order to better communicate with the community during events requiring prompt notification, the Village uses "CodeRED," a high-speed telephone emergency notification service. The CodeRED system gives Village officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas, or the entire Village at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour.
While this system has proven to be efficient in notifying residents in a timely manner, such systems are only as good as the telephone database supporting them. If a resident's phone number is not in the database, the resident will not be called. To register, simply visit CodeRED and enter your contact information. Those without Internet access may call the Police Department at 847-234-2153 to give their information over the phone. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and a primary phone number.
Please do not automatically assume your phone number is included. All businesses, as well as all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the last year, and who use a cellular phone as their primary home phone are encouraged to register. The system will only be used for emergency notification purposes and all resident contact information will remain private.
